What’s on in and around Guildford this August Bank Holiday?

Did somebody say post-lockdown bank holiday weekend? Yes that’s right, this is not a drill. Buckle up. You’ve got a three-day weekend to plan, so we suggest you gather as many of your nearest and dearest, as we’ve spoilt you for choice with a roundup of 10 unmissable events on August Bank Holiday in and around the Guildford area.

From days at the races, live music festivals to alfresco movie nights and fun for all the family. We’ve got something here for everybody. Most of us haven’t been able to have the Summer 2021 we’d hoped for, so we owe it to ourselves to celebrate the end of Summer with a wild weekend.

Let’s Love Life Charity Festival

Dance under the trees at the small boutique dance festival at the outdoor Rushmoor Arena in Aldershot. Spread over 68 acres of land, 3 stages, for 12 hours with over 25 International DJ’s, you can enjoy an evening of quality music including genres from house, deep house, tech house, to techno and club classics.

The line up includes Seb Fontaine, Faithless, Alex P, Leftwing:Kody, Martin Ikin, Rob Roar, Slipmatt, Tristan Ingram and many more.

Even better, all proceeds go towards the Little Roo Fund at St Peters Chertsey Neonatal Unit, which raises money for the premature babes on the unit.

Bank Holiday Family Fun Day at The Jockey Club: Epsom Downs

The race is on at Epsom with an afternoon of fantastic horse racing combined with free entertainment and activities for all the family. From face painting to pony rides, a mobile climbing wall to football darts, there’s something for all ages.

You won’t go hungry with a world-class range of dining experiences, hospitality and food concessions. The Blue Riband Bar & Kitchen is the go-to place to enjoy a British classic and you won’t miss a moment as you can dine on the balcony overlooking the Parade Ring and racecourse.

All Points East August Bank Holiday Weekend

Make it a four-day weekend at the much anticipated multi-genre music festival in East London’s, Victoria Park. Awarded ‘Festival of the Year’ in 2019 by Q Magazine and ‘Best Festival’ at the Music Week Awards.

Ladies Day ft. Jess Glynne Live After Racing

The Duke of Cambridge – Open Air Cinema

Goodwood August Bank Holiday presented by NOW

Enjoy a day at the races with the whole family as NOW presents the one and only Three Friday Night epic takeover. Dance the night away as the ‘King of Ibiza’, Carl Cox, lights up the parade ring after an evening of thrilling racing.

Wokingham Festival

Eat and drink your way around a variety of international street food vendors and pop-up bars at the independent festival run by the community, for the community.

Enjoy a selection of excellent live music with an eclectic mix of local, national and international artists. The line-up includes The Skangsters, Unikque, Wille & The Bandits and Silent Disco by CraigGazey.

This local festival is the perfect choice for a relaxed weekend with the family with a variety of entertainment provided for the little ones, including a circus scene, spider mountain and face painting.

The Late Summer Market at Basing House

This outdoor Summer Market is the perfect family outing in the stunning setting of Basing House. You can enjoy Morris dancers and a live sax band, as well as, browse craft and gift market stalls.

There’s plenty of activities to suit all with traditional fete competitions and the Mills Cottage Farm animal display. You can also explore the grounds and ruins of Basing House and stop for a cream tea at the Bothy Tea Room.

Edenbridge & Oxted Agriculture Show

The Boileroom

Discover emerging diverse, national and local artists at the award-winning venue in Stoke Fields, Guildford. A venue that’s renowned for creating an inclusive space for all to enjoy talented artists across all genres of contemporary music.

During bank holiday weekend, you can choose from three gigs, with ‘The Wandering Hearts’: the UK’s popular folk-Americana band performing on the Friday, ‘The Professionals’: an English punk rock band performing on Sunday and ‘Katy J Pearson’: a West Country alternative pop songwriter performing on Monday.
